  1. While you’re here:
  2. Plan now to attend the Plan Commission hearings when this issue will be discussed and voted upon! Your physical presence is essential to show your concern. You are NOT required to speak at the meetings. The Plan Commission meets on the 4th Thurs. of each month at 7:30 P.M. in Council Chambers on the 3rd floor of the Municipal Building (black building with white pillars ) 50 N. 5th St. in Richmond.
  3. If you wish to address the Plan Commissioners, please read the document entitled “Guidelines for speaking at Plan Commission hearings.” The criteria listed there, called the “Findings of Fact,” must be used by the Plan Commission to approve or deny the development plan. Framing your arguments around the Findings of Fact will help the Plan Commissioners in their decision-making.
  4. Write letters to potential tenants of the proposed commercial development using www.planetfeedback.com (For a sample letter, enter “Menard” under “Search Shared Letters.” Then click on the letter titled “undesirable proposed location” 3/8/05.) Remind potential tenants that we welcome commercial development to Richmond, but NOT in our nature preserve!
  5. Write letters to the editor. See www.pal-item.com for guidelines and submission information. Send copies to Council members and Plan Commission members. See www.ci.richmond.in.us for addresses.
  6. Contact us for speakers willing to present a program to your group.
  7. Network! Tell others about our website. Get friends and family involved. Bring people with you to the Plan Commission hearings. Spread the facts and speak out NOW - before it’s too late!
